The Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor is a compact, industry-standard pedal designed to eliminate unwanted noise and hum from guitar and bass signal chains without altering the instrument's natural tone. It is particularly effective for high-gain setups and rigs using vintage single-coil pickups.

Key Features and Functionality
The NS-2 utilizes a unique noise detection circuit that preserves the natural attack and envelope of your sound, avoiding the "choppy" feel common in standard noise gates. Its defining feature is the Send/Return loop, which allows you to isolate noisy pedals (like distortion or fuzz) within the loop while the NS-2 monitors your clean input signal. This ensures that noise is suppressed only when you aren't playing, maintaining sustain and dynamics.

Control is managed via two primary knobs: Threshold, which sets the level at which suppression begins, and Decay, which shapes how quickly the noise is eliminated after you stop playing. The pedal also offers switchable Reduction or Mute modes to tailor the effect for live performance or recording. Additionally, the unit includes a DC output jack, enabling it to power other pedals on your board.

Used Boss NS-2 pedals are widely available and known for their durability. Because the unit is often built into rigid metal casings, cosmetic wear varies significantly between listings, though electronics typically remain fully functional.
