The Ibanez SRH500F is a semi-hollow body fretless electric bass introduced in 2017 as part of the Ibanez Bass Workshop series, designed to emulate the acoustic resonance and tone of an upright double bass.  It features a 55 mm thick semi-hollow body with a spruce top and okoume back and sides, paired with a lightweight SRH4 5-piece jatoba/walnut neck and a bound panga panga fingerboard. 

Key specifications and features include:

• Electronics: Equipped with an AeroSilk Piezo system that delivers an upright double bass sound, controlled by a piezo volume knob, an active piezo tone control, and individual trimpots on the rear cavity for precise string-level gain adjustment. 

• Construction: The body utilizes a spruce top and okoume back/sides (mahogany was used in the initial 2017–2018 models), with a contoured neck heel for upper fret access and a forearm contour for playing comfort. 

• Hardware: It features a custom Accu-cast B300P bridge with 19mm string spacing and unique plastic saddles to enhance acoustic qualities, along with Ibanez GB7 die-cast tuning machines and black matte hardware.

• Dimensions: The bass has a 34-inch (864mm) scale length, a 38mm nut width.

The SRH500F is particularly noted for its touch-sensitive piezo response and ability to produce deep, woody tones when used with flatwound strings (such as the factory-installed D'Addario ECB81) or nylon strings, making it a popular choice for jazz, folk, and acoustic-style playing.
