The Roland Fantom-X7 is a 76-key digital sampling workstation synthesizer released in 2004 (produced through 2008), part of the Fantom-X line that also included the 61-key X6, 88-key X8, and rackmount XR. It's built around Roland's then-new sound generator chip, offering 128-voice polyphony, 16-part multitimbral layering, and up to ~1GB of wave memory when fully expanded — a first for a workstation at the time.
Key features:
76-key velocity-sensitive weighted synth-action keyboard with channel aftertouch, plus 16 velocity-sensitive pads and Roland's D-Beam infrared controller
128 MB wave ROM (expandable via 4 SRX cards) with over 1,400 waveforms, including an 88-key stereo-sampled piano
32 MB sample RAM expandable to 544 MB, with 8 stereo audio recording tracks, Skip Back Sampling, and real-time time-stretching
400,000-note sequencer, 320×240 color LCD display, USB MIDI/file transfer, and 24-bit S/PDIF I/O
