The BOSS GE-7 is a compact 7-band graphic equalizer pedal tailored specifically for electric guitar, widely regarded as a pedalboard staple for precise tone sculpting. It allows guitarists to boost or cut seven guitar-optimized frequency bands by up to ±15dB each, offering immediate control over tone character, feedback elimination, and signal boosting.

The pedal covers a frequency range from 100Hz to 6.4kHz across seven fixed bands: 100, 200, 400, 800, 1.6k, 3.2k, and 6.4k Hz. This specific range is optimized to address the fundamental frequencies and harmonics of the electric guitar. In addition to the frequency sliders, the unit includes a Level slider to adjust the overall output volume, allowing it to function as a clean boost for solos or to compensate for volume loss when cutting frequencies.

Physically, the GE-7 is built with the standard BOSS compact chassis, measuring approximately 2.9 inches wide by 5.1 inches deep. It features silent FET switching to prevent popping noises when engaging or disengaging the effect. The unit can be powered by a standard 9V battery or a 9V DC power supply (such as the BOSS PSA series), with a current draw of roughly 10–20 mA. It carries a five-year manufacturer warranty and is made in Taiwan for current production models, though earlier versions were made in Japan.

Guitarists primarily use the GE-7 for three distinct purposes: correcting problematic frequencies, shaping amp tone, and boosting signals. Because it is an analog pedal with a wide boost/cut range, it is highly effective at "tightening" muddy high-gain metal tones by cutting low-mid frequencies (around 200Hz–400Hz) or adding presence by boosting the upper mids (1.6k–3.2k). It is also frequently placed after distortion or overdrive pedals to refine the saturated tone or used as a solo boost by creating a "mid-hump" EQ curve and raising the level slider.
