When you ask a synth nerd what the "Holy Grail" of synthesizers are, it's likely they may answer with the Yamaha CS-80. Unfortunately, the CS-80 hasn't been made for decades and an original model cost thousands of dollars. Fortunately however, Yamaha has created a fantastic solution to this problem with the REFACE CS. 8 polyphonic voices that can be used in 5 different waveshapes paired with an incredible filter, effects, LFO, and envelope all with a slider-per-function create a phoenominal love letter to classic 70s and 80s synthesizers. Combined with a built-in looper, USB connectivity, and 5-pin MIDI in and out, as well as a sweet spot price, this is a fantastic synth for studio setups, gigging musicians or beginner sythians.
