The Fender Rhodes Mark I Stage 73 (1969–1979) is one of the most sought-after vintage electric pianos. Key facts:

Introduced: 1970 as a lighter, portable alternative to the two-piece Suitcase model (~130 lb with detachable legs)

Sound: Warm, bell-like tine-based tone; early-70s examples (pre-aluminum action rail, ~1974) are especially prized for their maple action rail and wooden hammers

Current market: Roughly $2,900–$6,000+ depending on year, condition, and whether it's been restored.
Pre-1975 units with the wooden action rail are generally considered the best-sounding. After 1975, CBS dropped the Fender name and switched to an aluminum frame, which many players find slightly less warm.
