Very good condition. Plays great. Freshly setup and restrung. Almost zero fretwear. Some light corrosion on bridge. A few light scratches on top, back and bottom. See pics. Mini swicth is non-functioning but everything else works wonderfully. Includes bag.
The Ibanez SR500ZW is a limited-run "spot model" electric bass from the SoundGear (SR) series, produced between 2014 and 2018. It is distinguished by its exotic zebrawood top, which provides both a striking visual aesthetic and added tonal brightness compared to standard models.
The SR500ZW was designed as a premium version of the standard SR500, featuring high-end components typically found on more expensive instruments. It was manufactured in Indonesia and sold exclusively through major online US retailers.
The body consists of a balanced, contoured mahogany base topped with zebrawood. This combination offers strong lows and low mids from the mahogany, while the dense zebrawood adds attack and brightness. The neck is a sleek 5-piece construction of jatoba and bubinga with an SR4 profile, known for its thin, fast playability. It features a rosewood fretboard with abalone oval inlays and 24 medium frets.
Electronically, the bass is equipped with Bartolini MK1 passive soapbar pickups (neck and bridge) and an Ibanez EQB-IIIS 3-band active EQ. A notable feature is the mid-frequency selector switch, allowing players to toggle between 250Hz and 600Hz for precise tonal shaping. The hardware is finished in Cosmo Black, including the Accu-cast B300 bridge and die-cast tuners.
As a discontinued model, the Ibanez SR500ZW is no longer available new from manufacturers. It has become a sought-after item on the used market due to its unique wood combination and high-spec components.
