Manufacturer's Details and Specs:
Hammering cymbals changes their vibration characteristics, thus adding tonal complexity and eventually lending a “trashiness” to heavily hammered cymbals. The Meinl Pure Alloy extra-hammered hi-hat cymbals certainly aren’t trashy in the same way that a china cymbal is, but drummers feel there’s a slight edge to their sound, especially when played half-open. These extra-hammered hi-hat cymbals also have a dark, rich foot splash and a ‘chick’ sound with a lot of body that feels very satisfying to play. All in all, the Pure Alloy extra-hammered hi-hat cymbals are beautifully complex-sounding cymbals that blend well with jazz, progressive rock, and other harmonically rich genres.
Traditional, fully lathed surface
Fully lathed surfaces are a big departure from the raw, earthy cymbals Meinl is best known for today. This process gives all Meinl Pure Alloy cymbals a higher wash-to-stick ratio — more like traditional cymbals — for a crisp, lingering sustain. Meinl's cymbal innovation stems from both a deep love for the craft and a desire to provide drummers with the sounds they're buzzing about.
