Ludwig Limited Edition Acrolite Snare Drum - 6.5x14 - Satin Chrome
LudwigLudwig revived a ’60s icon with the return of the Acrolite snare drum. Initially released in 1963 for student percussionists, the Acrolite snare soon garnered the attention of professional drummers nationwide for its exceptionally dry, bright, attacking tone. This favored tone is attributed to a period-correct 1.6mm seamless aluminum shell that's been adorned with a great selection of classic hardware, including stabilizing center-mounted Twin lugs, sonically flexible triple-flanged hoops, and a speedy P88C throw off. Vintage drum enthusiasts are also digging the Acrolite’s era-appropriate and totally mod blue/olive badging and limited-edition brushed Satin Chrome finish — finishing touches that give this snare a guise that’s straight from ’69. Capped with excellent Evans heads, the brilliant “crack” of the Acrolite is set to serve a multitude of genres with confidence, from rock and jazz to hip-hop, soul, and beyond.
The Ludwig legacy
With a proud legacy that dates back to 1909, Ludwig drums are a favorite among Sweetwater drummers for their warm, punchy sound. The world has heard them in front of Cream’s Ginger Baker, keeping the pulse behind Queen at Live Aid, and laying down the monstrous sound of Led Zeppelin’s “When the Levee Breaks.” But the company’s biggest break came when Ringo Starr proudly played them on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. Ludwig drums of today continue to carry this impressive legacy forward.
