Jake Kiszka, acclaimed guitarist and founding member of Greta Van Fleet, has helped define a new era of rock ’n’ roll with a style rooted in intensity, nuance, and unmistakable creative vision—and now Gibson is proud to introduce the limited-edition Jake Kiszka SG Standard. Inspired by Jake’s treasured 1961 SG, this striking model captures the spirit of the legendary original with its iconic double-cutaway mahogany body, pronounced bevels, and SlimTaper™ mahogany neck paired with a rosewood fretboard, 22 medium jumbo frets, and acrylic trapezoid inlays for fast, expressive playability. Built at Gibson’s Nashville factory, it features a Graph Tech® nut, Gibson Vintage Deluxe tuners with keystone buttons, an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic™ bridge, and a stop tailpiece hidden beneath a Sideways Vibrola™ cover that has been internally modified to remain decorative, delivering the vintage look of Jake’s own beloved ’61 SG with the tuning stability of a fixed tailpiece. Jake also chose modernized electronics, equipping the guitar with a pair of T-Type humbuckers™ and independent volume and tone controls with Orange Drop® capacitors for articulate clarity, searing highs, and dynamic punch. Finished in Faded Vintage Cherry gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, the Jake Kiszka SG Standard ships in a black Modern hardshell case featuring a Jake Kiszka doubloon logo graphic, and includes a standard backplate, a separate hand-signed and stamped Jake Kiszka backplate, and a custom leather strap with a metallic coin pendant designed by Jake. With Greta Van Fleet’s global rise and Jake’s influence on a new generation of players, this limited-run artist model gives dealers a compelling opportunity to offer customers a visually distinctive, highly collectible SG tied to one of modern rock’s most recognizable guitarists.

The style of ’61 — enhanced with hardtail performance

Jake’s signature SG Standard bears more than a passing resemblance to a ’61-style reissue, yet the truth is that this double-cut hides a serious hardtail mod under its hood. Most notably, the sideways tremolo unit you’d expect to see on an early-era SG has been internally secured, effectively transforming it into a trapeze tailpiece. This augmentation grants you all the vintage vibe and chromed-out class of Jake’s personal 1961 SG with all the rock-solid stability of a stoptail model.

Instead of sticking with standard-issue ’61 pickups, Jake modified his signature SG with late-1960s-style Gibson T-Type humbuckers. The T-Type design is a modern take on the beloved T-Top pickups featured in select Gibson models from 1966 to 1979. Noted by a raised “T” on top of the bobbin, the T-Top pickups enhance overall consistency and provide a brighter, clearer tone than original PAFs. The T-Type humbuckers honor the original T-Top design, complete with polysol wire, Alnico V magnets, and balanced, unpotted coils. The result? A vintage-correct tone that Mom's Gibson aficionados champion for its crisp highs, smooth mids, and tight low-end response.
