Taking a page out of Fender’s historic playbook, their Custom Shop’s ’55 Bone Tone Strat marries classic features with modern finishing touches into an archetypal guitar. Bone Tone hand-wound pickups elevate the sonic profile of the 2-piece ash body and 2A flame maple neck. Tear up the compound-radius fingerboard in style and comfort, with this neck sporting an historic soft “V” profile. Vintage frills abound from the hardware to the electronics, delivering a Strat that is straight out of time and ready to rock.

Fender’s Custom Shop luthiers have hand selected these tonewoods to be both historically accurate and robust in range. Opting for ash with the 2-piece body supplants your sound with bright character, boasting tough mids and a tight, warm low end. The 2A flame maple beautifully adorns the matching neck and fingerboard, whose construction reinforces the wood’s natural tonal stability, producing even, crisp highs, with powerful projection and resonance. Together, these two produce a full, balanced range that intermixes warm and articulate lows and highs, orbiting around a solid mass of midrange minus the muck.

Tremendous tone isn’t the only thing this neck provides. The Fender Custom Shop nailed the halcyon design of this ’55 Strat, using beautiful 2A flame maple wood for a matching neck and fingerboard, augmenting its aesthetic appeal with natural light weight and climate-stable steadfastness. Flex your musical muscles in comfort, thanks to the ’54 Strat soft “V” profile, which is great for thumb-over styles. Explore the range of the 21 narrow-tall (6105) frets across the vintage-vaunted compound-radius fingerboard, ranging from 7.25 to 9.5 inches. The Custom Shop’s vintage synchronized tremolo and vintage-style tuners bookend the strings, featuring an era-accurate bone nut and a vintage-style disc string tree. The devil is in the details, and the namesake pickups are master designed and hand wound. They're set with a generous amount of headroom, thanks to fewer turns of the historic heavy formvar wire. Bone Tone pickups feature beveled Alnico 2 magnets and ’54 pickup covers. Connected through a classic configuration, the 5-way blade switch includes “1/2 blender” wiring, allowing the neck pickup to be blended in positions 1 and 2. This ’55 Strat is oozing with classic Fender character, sporting the historically innovative engineering that landed this hallmark bad-to-the-bone tone in the history books.
