The Ampeg J-12T Jet II is a 15-watt, all-tube guitar combo amplifier produced primarily between 1995 and 2006, with a brief reissue run in 2007–2008.  Known for its vintage-inspired design and warm, British-voiced tone, it features a single 12-inch speaker, EL84 power tubes, and built-in tremolo and reverb.

The J-12T Jet II is built around a simple, single-channel design focused on classic rock and blues tones. It utilizes a four-tube chassis consisting of two 12AX7 preamp tubes and two EL84 power tubes.  Unlike many modern amps, it lacks an effects loop, channel switching, or extensive EQ controls, offering instead a straightforward control panel with Volume, Tone, Tremolo Speed, Tremolo Intensity, and Reverb.

  • Power Output: 15 Watts

  • Speaker: 1x12" Ampeg Vintage or Special Design

  • Tubes: 2x 12AX7 (preamp), 2x EL84 (power)

  • Effects: Tube-driven Tremolo and Digital/Spring Reverb

  • Inputs: Two (labeled "Guitar" and "Accordion/Harmonica")

  • Finish: Distinctive Blue Diamond vinyl covering with sparkle-weave grille cloth

  • Dimensions: Approximately 19" W x 16" H x 10" D

  • Weight: ~30 lbs

Users describe the J-12T as having a "British" sound profile, distinct from the bright, clean sparkle of Fender amplifiers. The EL84 power section provides a warm, rich crunch that breaks up naturally when the volume is pushed past the 2 or 3 o'clock position. While it excels at blues, classic rock, and vintage tones, it is not designed for high-gain metal applications.
