This electric bass bears all the hallmarks of a ’60s-era model, starting with a contoured alder body, finished with a relic’d nitro coating for a well-seasoned look that’s sure to impress. The 1962 J Bass features a quarter-sawn maple neck with a chunky, ’60s-inspired U-shaped profile and a flat-laminated rosewood fingerboard that plays like a dream. Classic tones abound, thanks to a hand-wound set of Custom Shop Jazz Bass single-coil pickups, voiced for that iconic midrange growl and overwound for extra output. Additionally, the 1962 J Bass boasts vintage-style hardware, including a 4-saddle bridge, tuning machines, ashtray covers, knurled concentric knobs, and a 4-ply pickguard. The Fender Custom Shop 1962 Jazz Bass is a meticulous reissue, crafted using the same techniques and tooling as its 1960s counterpart — it’s truly the next best thing to owning a genuine vintage specimen.
