The 2019 Fender Vintera ’60s Stratocaster is a Made-in-Mexico instrument designed to replicate the specifications and feel of original 1960s Stratocasters. It serves as a successor to the Classic Series, offering vintage-correct features at an accessible price point.

Key Specifications and Features
The 2019 model is defined by its strict adherence to vintage ergonomics and electronics. It features an alder body paired with a maple neck shaped in a "Mid-’60s C" profile, which users note feels slightly chunkier than modern "C" shapes but thinner than 50s profiles. A defining characteristic of this era is the 7.25-inch fretboard radius, providing a highly curved surface that facilitates chord playing but requires careful technique for large bends to avoid fretting out.

Unlike previous Fender models that used rosewood, the 2019 Vintera ’60s utilizes a Pau Ferro fretboard. This material is generally lighter than rosewood with varied grain patterns, offering a tone that is brighter than rosewood but warmer than ebony. The guitar is equipped with 21 vintage-tall frets and vintage-style single-coil pickups designed by Tim Shaw. These pickups use enamel-coated wire and non-beveled Alnico 5 magnets to produce the crystalline, bell-like chime associated with 1960s Fender tones.

Standard Vintera ’60s: This is the pure vintage reissue featuring the 7.25" radius, Pau Ferro board, and standard vintage single-coil pickups. It typically includes a 5-way switch and vintage-style tuning machines.

The tonal character of the 2019 Vintera ’60s is described as articulate, crisp, and focused. The SSS (single-single-single) pickup configuration delivers the classic "quack" in positions 2 and 4, thanks to the RWRP (reverse wound/reverse polarity) middle pickup which cancels hum in those settings.
