Very good condition for it'as age! Plays great. Freshly setup and restrung. Includes Epiphone hard case. Plenty of REAL relicing on this one. Finish checking all over. Scratches and rash as expected. Some rough edges on headstock. Only bad ding is on back at neck joint. Does not affect playability. See all pics and feel free to ask any questions. The mute slide really only moves easily when the string tension is released.
The 1967 Gibson EB-2D is a highly sought-after vintage semi-hollow body electric bass, celebrated for its unique tonal versatility, iconic design, and comfortable short-scale playability. Modeled after the famous ES-335 guitar, it combines a warm, woody low end with the ability to produce brighter, more defined attacks thanks to its dual-pickup configuration.
The EB-2D features a laminated maple body with a center block, giving it the semi-hollow architecture that reduces feedback while maintaining acoustic resonance. It has a mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard (often Brazilian rosewood in this era) and a 30.5" short scale length, making it exceptionally comfortable for players transitioning from guitar or those preferring a lighter feel.
Visually, the 1967 models are distinct for their transition in hardware aesthetics. Early 1967 units often retained the "reflector" knobs from previous years, while later production switched to the iconic "witch hat" amp-style knobs. The finish options typically included Sunburst and Cherry Red, both of which develop a desirable patina and lacquer checking over time.
