The original Yamaha FG body delivers a full, punchy low end, well-suited for strumming and flatpicking, and 1960s aesthetics and modern craftsmanship culminate over 50 years of Yamaha guitar development.

The Yamaha FGX3 Red Label is a modern dreadnought (referred to by Yamaha as "Traditional Western") acoustic-electric guitar designed as a tribute to the iconic 1960s FG Red Label series.  It features an A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement) treated solid Sitka spruce top, which simulates aged wood for a rich, vintage-like tone with enhanced sustain and volume.  The solid mahogany back and sides deliver a warm, woody sound with a strong midrange, while the scalloped top bracing enhances low-frequency response and natural projection.

Key features include:

  • African mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard for smooth playability.

  • 25” scale length and 44mm (1.75”) nut width, ideal for fingerstyle and chordal playing.

  • Atmosfeel 3-way pickup system combining a piezo, internal microphone, and synthetic sheet sensor for a full, natural amplified sound with intuitive controls (master volume, mic blend, bass EQ).

  • Comes with a hard bag and Elixir Nanoweb 80/20 bronze light strings.

The FGX3 is praised for its balanced tone, excellent build quality, and affordable price point
