Yamaha EAD10 Drum Module

The Yamaha EAD10 is an electronic acoustic drum module designed to transform any acoustic drum kit into a hybrid setup with digital effects, recording capabilities, and enhanced sound options.  It combines a sensor unit that attaches to the bass drum with a main control module, allowing drummers to easily amplify, record, and modify their acoustic drum sound.

1. Sensor Unit & Sound Capture

The EAD10’s sensor unit attaches to the bass drum and includes:

• A stereo pair of high-SPL condenser microphones in an X-Y configuration for capturing the full acoustic drum kit with natural balance and spatial imaging.

• A dedicated bass drum trigger for accurate electronic sound triggering. This setup eliminates the need for multiple microphones, cables, and mixers typically required for drum miking. 

2. Sound Engine & Effects

• Tone Generator: AWM2 (Advanced Wave Memory 2) with 757 built-in voices. 

• Scenes: 50 preset and 200 user-programmable scenes for custom sound configurations. 

• Effects:

  • 11 reverb types

  • 21 microphone effects (compression, distortion, delay, phaser, etc.)

  • 10 trigger effects for electronic layering These allow drummers to shape their acoustic sound with studio-quality processing.

• 3. Connectivity & Expandability

  • Trigger Inputs: Supports up to 6 total inputs (kick, snare, two additional triggers, footswitch). 

  • Audio I/O:

    • Stereo outputs (L/MONO, R)

    • Headphone output

    • AUX input for playing along with external audio

  • USB:

    • USB TO DEVICE: Connect USB flash drive for recording (up to 90 minutes per file)

    • USB TO HOST: Connect to computer or iOS/Android device for audio/MIDI streaming

  • Compatible with additional pads and triggers for hybrid expansion.

4. Recording & App Integration

• Internal Memory: Records up to 1 minute 30 seconds. 

• USB Recording: Save high-quality WAV files (44.1 kHz, 16-bit stereo) directly to USB drive. 

• Rec'n'Share App (iOS/Android):

  • Record high-quality audio and video

  • Import songs from music library

  • Auto-detect tempo and generate click tracks

  • Time stretch, A-B looping, editing

  • Direct upload to YouTube, Facebook, etc.

• Ideal for content creators, practice, and online lessons

5. Performance & Practice Tools

• Click Track: Adjustable tempo (30–300 BPM), tap tempo, multiple time signatures. 

• Click Output Assignment: Route click to headphones, main outputs, or USB.

• Talkback Function: Press a button or use a footswitch to amplify voice for instruction or commentary. 

• Noise Gate: Reduces background noise with adjustable threshold and release.
