The Yamaha TRB 4 II is a 4-string electric bass guitar that was introduced in 1998 as an update to the original TRB 4 and was manufactured until 2007 before being discontinued. It features a rosewood-on-maple neck, an ash body with an ergonomic cutaway and neck joint, and a bottom-anchoring brass bridge. The instrument has a 35-inch scale length, which is an inch longer than the original TRB 4, and is equipped with a pair of humbuckers (2 active single coils with dummy coils) and active electronics with a three-band EQ for versatile tone shaping. Available finish options included Amber Burst, Translucent Blue Burst, and Magenta Burst. When new, its recommended retail price was $1600.
The TRB 4 II is noted for its high build quality, comfortable smaller body, and excellent playability, with users praising its versatile EQ and the ease of achieving a preferred sound. It is made in Japan, which distinguishes it from many of Yamaha's mid-range models produced in other regions. The bass weighs approximately 8.5 pounds, and its design includes a 3-piece laminated maple neck with a serious six-bolt neck joint.
