The Xotic BB Plus is a dual-channel preamp and boost pedal designed for guitarists seeking versatile tone shaping. It features two distinct channels: Channel A, which is based on the original BB Preamp, delivers an amp-like feel with rich, complex harmonics and a transparent, open sound, while Channel B offers a more modern, versatile boost with independent Bass, Mid, and Treble controls for precise tonal sculpting. Both channels have dedicated Volume and Gain controls, and each includes a compression setting (hard or soft) that affects the tone differently, with Channel A's hard compression rolling off frequencies below 500 Hz and soft compression below 1 kHz, while Channel B uses 350 Hz and 500 Hz cutoffs respectively.

The pedal's true bypass switching ensures no signal degradation when the effect is off, and it can be powered by a standard 9V DC power supply or a 9V battery. Its compact size measures 4.62" x 3.65" x 2" (117mm x 93mm x 50mm), and it weighs 0.9 lbs (0.4kg). The BB Plus is praised for its ability to function as a clean boost, a transparent overdrive, or a complex lead booster, and its true strength lies in the ability to stack the two channels in either order (A>B or B>A), creating an extensive range of tonal configurations. This allows for applications ranging from subtle rhythm tone enhancement to aggressive lead tones, making it suitable for genres like blues, classic rock, and hard rock.
