The Warm Audio Centavo is a true-to-original, accurate recreation of the highly sought-after Klon Centaur overdrive pedal, renowned for its clean boost and overdriven tones. It is designed to authentically replicate the legendary experience and adored tones of the original, which was produced from 1994 to 2009. The pedal features three primary controls—Gain, Treble, and Output—allowing users to dial in everything from a subtle clean boost to a saturated overdrive. The Gain control breaks up late, with edge-of-breakup occurring after 50% and real clipping happening late in the gain stage.

A distinctive feature of the Centavo is the "MOD" switch located on the back panel, a modification famously requested by guitarist Jeff Beck for the original pedal. When engaged (in the "up" position), this switch extends the low-end response, particularly enhancing the lower strings and providing a "throaty" sound. This feature is considered a key part of the pedal's authenticity and versatility.

The Centavo is built with premium components, including TL072 op amps, vintage-style diodes, carbon and metal film resistors, and a charge-pump voltage regulator. It features a custom-cast enclosure. The pedal uses buffered bypass operation and is powered by a 9V battery or a standard 9V DC pedal adapter, consuming 40mA of power.

The Centavo is praised for its ability to function as both a clean boost and a transparent overdrive, with users noting its warmth, fatness, and rich harmonic content, especially when the MOD switch is engaged. It is compatible with a wide range of amplifiers, making it suitable for boosting solos, blending clean and gain tones, or pushing a dirty amp. The pedal is manufactured and tested in Austin, Texas, USA.
