The Vox AD50VT is a 50-watt hybrid guitar combo amplifier from Vox's Valvetronix series, released between 2004 and 2008.  It features Valve Reactor technology, combining a 12AX7 tube in the power amp section with digital modeling for a warm, tube-like tone while offering the versatility of solid-state reliability.

Key Features:

  • 1x12" Celestion 70-80 speaker in a closed-back cabinet for tight lows and focused mids.

  • 11 amp models (including Vox AC30, Marshall, Fender, and high-gain tones) and 11 built-in digital effects (chorus, delay, reverb, phaser, etc.).

  • Two programmable channels (CH1/CH2) plus a Manual mode for custom presets.

  • Power level control on the back to reduce output from 50W to 1W while preserving tone—ideal for bedroom practice.

  • Optional VFS-2 footswitch (sold separately) for channel switching and effect bypass.

Performance & Use:

  • Excellent for practice, recording, and live gigs due to its volume, tone, and versatility.

  • The hybrid design delivers a warmer, more responsive feel than typical solid-state amps, though not identical to full tube amps.

  • Known for crisp cleans, rich overdrive, and strong high-gain tones, especially with the UK 70s and US High Gain models.
