The Tech 21 Roto Choir is a guitar effect pedal designed to emulate the complex, multi-dimensional sound of a vintage rotating speaker cabinet, such as the iconic Leslie speaker. It utilizes Tech 21's proprietary SansAmp technology to recreate the entire signal chain, including the original tube power amp, the low-frequency rotating speaker, the high-frequency rotor horn, and the microphone used to capture the sound, resulting in a high-definition, 3D emulation.

The pedal features intuitive controls for extensive tonal shaping. Key controls include Level, High and Low EQ for sculpting the tube amp emulation, Drive to add compression, harmonics, and grit, and a dedicated Top Speed knob to set the rotor speed. A Fast/Slow footswitch allows users to ramp up, slow down, or stop the rotating speaker effect, while the Position control adjusts the virtual microphone's proximity to the horns, altering the intensity and character of the effect. The Biamped switch enables selection between a two-way system (rotating drum and horn) or a single-speaker mode, and a Speaker Sim switch facilitates direct recording or use with full-range PA systems.

The Roto Choir is built for durability with heavy-duty, all-metal construction and offers a stereo output, buffered bypass for clean signal integrity, and operates on a 9V battery (not included) or an optional DC power supply. It is designed to be used with guitars, keyboards, synths, and vocals, making it a versatile tool for both live performance and studio recording. The pedal is manufactured in the United States.

Reviews have praised its authentic Leslie simulation, particularly in Biamped mode, noting its ability to produce lush, warm, and clear sounds reminiscent of classic guitar tones. While the pedal is not completely silent—its self-noise is comparable to a real Leslie cabinet, especially when the Drive control is increased—this characteristic is often considered part of its authentic, musical nature.
