The PRS SE Tremonti is a line of electric guitars manufactured in Korea (MIK) by Paul Reed Smith from 2002 to 2015. This model was designed in collaboration with Mark Tremonti, lead guitarist of Alter Bridge and Creed.

Key Features

  • Mahogany body and neck
  • Bound rosewood fretboard with 25" scale length
  • Stoptail tailpiece
  • “Dot” inlays (2002-2011) or “Bird” inlays (2011-2015)
  • PRS-designed tremolo bridge

Comparison to MII (Indonesian-made) PRS SE Tremonti

While both MIK and MII PRS SE Tremonti share similar designs, the MIK models are often regarded as having a more traditional PRS aesthetic and tone. The MII models, on the other hand, have been criticized for their less premium build quality and tone.

Tone and Playability

The PRS SE Tremonti is known for its articulate aggression and versatility, making it suitable for heavy rock rhythm playing and melodic leads. The Tremonti “S” pickups and dual volume and tone controls allow for a wide range of tonal options.

Conclusion

The MIK PRS SE Tremonti is a popular choice among guitarists seeking a high-quality, affordable instrument with a classic PRS tone and aesthetic. While it may not have the same premium build quality as US-made PRS guitars, it remains a great option for those looking for a reliable and versatile guitar.
