The DOD Looking Glass Overdrive is a versatile overdrive pedal developed through a collaboration between DOD and the boutique pedal company SHOE Pedals, led by designer Christopher Venter, known for his unique circuits and minimalist design aesthetic. It features a Class A FET-based circuit, which provides low noise and high transparency, allowing the pedal to enhance the natural tone of a guitar and amp without obscuring its inherent qualities. The pedal offers two distinct overdrive modes: Low mode for clean tone shaping, light compression, and lower gain overdrive, and High mode that continues the gain range, enabling players to dial in sounds from light overdrive to full-on valve amp drive with a hint of fuzz.

A key feature is the unique Input Filter control, which is passive and interacts with the guitar's pickups to tame overly bright guitars, helping the player cut through the mix without harshness. This control, combined with the pre-drive Bass Cut and post-drive Treble controls, allows for extensive tonal shaping, enabling users to retain clarity or dial in a raunchy, raw tone. The Bass Cut function reduces bass content before the gain stage, which helps tighten the low end, particularly beneficial with humbuckers. The pedal also includes a toggle switch for selecting between high and low gain modes, and two internal DIP switches that can be adjusted to increase input impedance or engage a darker voicing of the Input Filter, especially useful when using buffered pedals.

The Looking Glass is true bypass, ensuring the guitar's tone remains pristine when the pedal is off, and it features a power supply input for pedalboard-friendly operation. It is praised for its responsiveness to pick attack and touch sensitivity across its entire range, making it adaptable to various guitars and amplifiers, from classic Fender or Vox amps to more demanding setups. The pedal is capable of delivering a glassy boost, light overdrive, and the raw, psychedelic sounds of a vintage amp pushed to the brink of failure.
