The Fender Custom Shop Vintage Custom 1950 Double Esquire® NOS, Maple Fingerboard, Nocaster® Blonde is a limited-edition guitar that faithfully recreates one of the earliest prototypes, the rare dual-pickup Esquire, which predates the 1951 Telecaster. This model features a 2-piece off-center-seam ash body with a NOS flash-coat lacquer Nocaster Blonde finish. The neck is made from a tinted maple rift-sawn neck with a 10/56 "V"-shaped profile and a vintage 7.25"-9.5" compound radius, which provides a unique playing feel. It includes 21 medium vintage frets and a bone nut.
The guitar is equipped with hand-wound '50-'51 Blackguard pickups, known for their fat and juicy tone, and features modified '51 Nocaster® wiring with a blender pot instead of a standard tone control and an additional resistor on the rhythm circuit for sweeter output. It also comes with Closet Classic hardware, a black phenolic pickguard, and vintage-style tuning machines. The guitar includes a deluxe hardshell case, strap, and Certificate of Authenticity.
While the Fender Custom Shop model uses a standard maple neck, a separate Fender replacement neck option is available that features a roasted maple neck with a 9.5" radius and 22 narrow tall frets, which is a different configuration from the vintage model.
