Description:

The Electro-Harmonix Small Stone EH4800 Phase Shifter is a 4-stage phase shifter pedal first made in 1974 by David Cockerell, utilizing operational transconductance amplifiers (OTA). It features a Rate knob and a Color switch, which engages an additional stage of feedback for a more pronounced effect. The pedal is known for its reliability and is housed in the famous large metal boxes of the '80s and '90s.

The Small Stone EH4800 has a Rate knob and a Color switch for the addition of feedback. It is available in various models, including the Nano version, which is compact and features true bypass, variable rate control, and a color switch that adds Q and thins the moving comb filters.

In terms of pricing, the pedal can be found on platforms like Reverb and eBay, with prices ranging from around $75 to $350 depending on the condition and model. The pedal is also available with a power supply adapter, such as the Kircuit AC Adapter, which is compatible with the Small Stone EH4800 Nano Pedal.

The Small Stone EH4800 is a popular choice among musicians for its ability to generate thick sweeping phase shifting with liquid transparency, making it suitable for various genres including grunge, lo-fi, stoner rock, and more. It is also noted for its versatility, allowing users to dial in a deep and swooshy resonance with the Color switch engaged, emulating a rotary speaker vibe, and creating a lush, slightly detuned modulation that mimics the vibe of a subtle chorus effect.
