The Gretsch USA Custom "Monster Plus" is the iconic drum kit configuration made famous by Phil Collins during the 1980s with Genesis and on his solo tours. Characterized by its massive array of single-headed concert toms (no bottom heads) and a deep, thunderous sound, it remains one of the most recognizable setups in rock history. The Gretsch Model 44 series refers to the specific line of concert toms (single-headed toms) that defined Phil Collins' iconic sound with Genesis and in his solo career during the late 1970s and 1980s. These drums were part of his custom Gretsch USA kits, most famously finished in Nitron Black.
