The Vox AC4HW1, released between 2012 and 2019, is a 4-watt hand-wired tube guitar combo amplifier known for its classic British tone and compact design. In 2013, users like "the keester" reported positive experiences with the amp, noting its sweet, chimey sound reminiscent of a low-wattage AC30 when paired with high-quality tubes such as vintage Mullard and NOS JAN 12AX7s, and an upgraded Celestion Alnico Blue speaker. The amp features a single channel with controls for Bass, Treble, Master Volume, and a Gain (or Preamp Volume) knob, along with a Hot/Cool switch that bypasses the tone controls for a more direct signal path, a feature praised for enhancing lead tones. Despite its boutique-level construction, including hand-wired turret board circuitry and a 12-inch Celestion G12M Greenback speaker, the AC4HW1 was marketed as an accessible option for achieving vintage Vox tones without the high price tag typically associated with hand-wired amps.
