The 1983–1984 Fender Concert Amp is part of the "Rivera Era" of Fender amplifiers, designed under the direction of Paul Rivera, Fender’s marketing director and amp designer at the time.  These models are widely recognized as the last handwired, point-to-point tube amps produced by Fender in Fullerton, California, making them highly sought after by collectors and tone enthusiasts.

These amps are part of Fender’s "II Series" (1982–1986), which included updated versions of classic models like the Twin Reverb II, Deluxe Reverb II, and the Concert II. The 1983–1984 Concert amps are often referred to as Concert II, though the "II" was not always part of the official name.

  • The clean channel is often praised for its authentic blackface Fender tone, comparable to a Deluxe or Twin Reverb, with excellent clarity and sparkle

  • The overdrive channel was designed to compete with popular high-gain amps of the era like the Mesa Boogie Mark Series, offering a mid-voiced, thick distortion that works well for rock, blues, and classic metal tones

  • The amp performs best when driven at higher volumes, where the tubes and output stage fully saturate

  • Some users find the overdrive channel less refined than modern high-gain amps

  • These amps are increasingly rare and valued for their handwired construction, historical significance, and versatile tone

  • Original, unmodified units in good condition typically sell for $1,500–$2,500, with modified or restored versions commanding higher prices

  • The 4x10" version is especially rare and desirable for its unique tonal character and visual appeal

  • Many users report using these amps on professional recordings and live gigs, with some appearing on dozens of albums

  • The internal wiring can appear complex or "messy" due to the high number of features, but it remains serviceable due to point-to-point construction.
