1977 Gibson ES-335 with Bigsby

The 1977 Gibson ES-335 is a semi-hollow electric guitar known for its rich tone and elegant design. This year marked the first production year with a factory-installed coil tap switch, located on the upper treble cutaway, giving players added tonal versatility by allowing single-coil sounds from the humbuckers.

While the standard ES-335 came with a stopbar tailpiece, many models from this era were fitted with or later modified to include a Bigsby vibrato tailpiece (commonly the B7 or B3 models). A Bigsby adds subtle pitch modulation and vintage aesthetic appeal. Some 1977 models, such as those in walnut or wine red finishes, are documented with Bigsby tailpieces—either factory-installed or added later by owners.

The guitar features a comfortable late-'70s neck profile, excellent playability, and solid tuning stability.
